Samba Fogo
Soul to Crown: Embodying Samba Workshop
Find healing release, honor your body, and discover new parts of your dancing self in this Samba dance experience. Drawing inspiration and energy from Brazilian cultural archetypes like the Malandro and the Orixá, we will dance from the “souls” of our feet to the “crowns” of our heads. We will dance in rhythm as we “plant our feet,” grounding our lower bodies to set our upper limbs free. We will explore Samba basics and footwork, with both male and female styling, and discover how to move our bodies more efficiently and freely.
EO: Monkey Chant
EO: Monkey Chant
With its roots in ancient Balinese ritual, Monkey Chant has been a beloved part of West Coast festival culture since EO and friends brought it to Burning Man 2000. Accessible to everyone regardless of musical experience, this energetic, playful form of chanting employs interlocking rhythms which form an exhilarating and entrancing texture. We’ll first dive right into a spontaneous ritual experience of the chant, then we’ll break down what’s going on rhythmically and decode core principles for powerful grooves in all genres. This workshop will be run by Eric Oberthaler (EO), who mixes Dirtwire and is music producer and facilitator creating interactive, ritual experiences. A classically trained composer gone rogue, he now designs immersive soundworlds to activate transformational spaces
Immerisia Experience
with David Starfire
Immerisia is a multisensory installation where the participants will hear, see, and feel the music. The project features a 13-speaker surround sound system, LED matrix lighting, and a 12x12 foot vibroacoustic bed. The experience is guided by original compositions created exclusively for this environment including a shamanic healing journey from David Starfire and an ethereal cinematic soundscape composed by me. The installation is fully self-contained and requires only a teepee or tent for setup, as well as access to power.
Visual Art Mapping
with Android Jones
Andrew “Android” Jones is a Colorado-based artist known for blending traditional draftsmanship, digital innovation, and visionary imagination. His work explores the relationship between nature, consciousness, movement, and the unseen forces that shape human experience. Based in Lyons, Colorado, Andrew draws inspiration from the landscapes, animals, weather, and wild rhythms of the American West.
His practice spans fine art, live visual performance, immersive media, and works on paper. Whether working digitally or through direct sketching, Andrew approaches image-making as a way to study presence, beauty, and the living intelligence of the natural world.

FREENOTES SCULPTURED INSTRUMENT JAM
Freenotes are metal musical sculpture instruments all tuned together on permanent installation at BMGR created by Richard Cooke. We will be jamming freeform on these beautiful instruments together and recording it! Freenotes are struck with a mallet to resound with lovely, resonated tomes that are permanently in tune. The instruments employ pentatonic (five note), and diatonic (seven note) scales rather than the complex chromatic (twelve note) scale used on a piano and all orchestral instruments. This means there are no wrong notes on Freenotes, so you can play with the complete freedom and always enjoy perfect harmonies. All combinations of these notes are pleasing to the ear. The scales are perfect for improvisation. Three factors of the percussion tone…strike, the timbre and the decay of the note, which is why it is so relaxing to hear.
